The Garden of Eden

The Bible says that God created the entire earth, including mankind. The first people were Adam and Eve. God placed them in a perfect place called the "Garden of Eden." In this garden, they were allowed to eat of every tree. But God warned them not to eat of one tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Rather than be content with what God had given them, they rebelled and ate of the forbidden food. You can read more about the story, and its implications, in Genesis 3 and Romans 5.
